The seventh edition of the Children's municipal council in West Maas en Waal was scheduled for Thursday, November 14, with the theme 'Growing up well in West Maas en Waal!'. Unfortunately, it will not take place this year.

On Thursday, November 14, the Caregiver Support Center is organizing a special evening for informal caregivers in the Municipality of West Maas en Waal as part of the annual Caregivers Day.

In an engaged neighborhood, you live together. That is why the Municipality of West Maas en Waal, Maas & Waal healthcare group, and Housing Corporation De Kernen signed an agreement on Wednesday, October 16.

They had already agreed to this in early 2024 through a cooperation agreement. Now that all municipalities are required to submit their
childcare plans to the province, these plans are becoming more concrete.

Dutch municipalities face major challenges in the coming years. The funding municipalities receive from the national government is set to be cut by billions on a structural basis.

The number of people with dementia is growing. The Municipality of West Maas en Waal is actively working to become a dementia-friendly municipality.

The renovated “Ons Tuin Alphenactivity garden reopens on October 3. It offers residents of all ages the opportunity to meet one another in a welcoming setting and to stay active.

In June, the Municipal Executive decided to designate two pilot locations for JOPs. Local residents have expressed concerns about potential disturbances and safety. The municipality will now hold follow-up meetings with local residents and other stakeholders.
