Municipality of West Maas en Waal brightens up with container gardens

This is an old message.

The municipality of West Maas en Waal is committed to a clean and green living environment, including through the use of container gardens. There are now 21 gardens in the municipality, which add a touch of color around the underground waste containers.

The municipality of West Maas en Waal is committed to a clean and green living environment. A good example of this are the container gardens. These gardens add a touch of color around the underground waste containers. There are now 21 container gardens spread across six villages.

The gardens are intended to reduce the amount of waste left next to the containers. And they are working. In places where there is a container garden, less waste is left behind. The container gardens have been placed in areas where waste was often left behind. Residents were also allowed to choose locations themselves. The first container garden was realized in October 2021 in Dreumel, on the initiative of concerned residents.

With thanks to the residents involved

To see how the container gardens are doing, Alderman Evert Jan Slootweg visited Cor van Summeren in Maasbommel: "What makes these gardens special is the commitment of the residents involved. A number of residents have adopted a garden and maintain it with care. Thanks to people like Cor van Summeren, the street looks greener and the waste around the containers is regularly cleaned up."

There are also volunteers who do not maintain a container garden, but who help clean up litter around the containers. For example, in Boven-Leeuwen. Together, they ensure a cleaner, more pleasant living environment for everyone.
