Last Saturday, for the second year in a row, the polder beachcombers (formerly Maas and Waal beachcombers) cleaned up the inland area of the municipality of West Maas en Waal. On this sunny day, 13 associations collected no less than 300 kilograms of litter.
During a tile exchange campaign organized by the municipality of West Maas en Waal, no fewer than 143 households exchanged 560 m² of garden tiles for plants and shrubs.
The municipal executive of West Maas en Waal is rewarding six new ideas from residents (or groups of residents) with a maximum of €750. They will receive this one-off contribution for improving quality of life or community spirit.
This spring, work will begin on the construction of a temporary youth meeting place (JOP) at the pilot location designated by the municipality of West Maas en Waal in Beneden-Leeuwen. In Dreumel, the JOP at the Donjon will not go ahead for the time being.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands. To commemorate this, the Keuze Vrijheid (Freedom of Choice) project will open on April 10, 2025, featuring a series of outdoor exhibitions in the Rivierengebied region. Keuze Vrijheid brings poignant personal stories from World War II to life.
On Saturday, April 12, residents of West Maas en Waal can participate in a special promotion: hand in up to 5 m² of tiles/clinkers per household and receive free plants!
