News from Avri

Barrier at Tiel recycling center closed during container changes
Starting Monday, December 1, the Avri recycling center in Tiel will be briefly closed several times a day with a barrier. This will occur during container changes and will take 10 to 15 minutes each time.
The measure is necessary to ensure safe working conditions. The recycling center is often very busy, which can lead to unsafe situations for visitors and employees when containers are being changed.
Tip: Avoid visiting on Saturdays unless absolutely necessary. It is particularly busy then and waiting times can be long.

Waste collection calendar 2026
View the 2026 waste collection calendar from Wednesday, December 17, in the Avri app and at avri.nl. It is possible that we will collect waste on a different day than you are used to in the new year.
Paper containers closed around New Year's Eve
A few days before New Year's Eve, Avri will close a large number of public paper recycling containers to prevent vandalism. They will reopen as soon as possible after New Year's Eve.
Public trash cans
In the municipalities of Tiel, Neder-Betuwe, and a large part of West Betuwe, Avri will close a large number of public trash bins or remove the (indoor) bins around the holidays. After the New Year, we will reopen the bins or put them back as soon as possible.
Christmas trees
Christmas trees can be disposed of free of charge at the recycling center. The tree can also be cut into small pieces and placed in the green organic waste container. The lid must be able to close. Culemborg and Maasdriel organize a collection campaign for Christmas trees. Please check your municipality's website for more information.
Firework debris
From Friday, January 2, 2026, you can dispose of fireworks debris such as cardboard packaging and fireworks pots separately at recycling centers. Do not throw the debris in with your regular trash. This will prevent smoldering debris from causing a fire hazard. How can you safely dispose of fireworks debris? First, allow the debris to cool down. Then wet them and put them in a sturdy plastic bag. Take the bag to the recycling center.
De-icing
Avri is responsible for gritting roads in the municipalities of Buren, Neder-Betuwe, and Tiel. For more information and to view the gritting routes, visit avri.nl. You can also follow our special account on X: @AvriGladheid.
Waste collection tax 2026
Your waste collection tax consists of two parts. You pay a fixed basic rate each year, which is the same for everyone. In addition, you pay a variable rate each time you put out your residual waste. The General Board will set the rates for 2026 on Thursday, December 18, 2025. Shortly thereafter, the rates and regulations will be posted on avri.nl. In 2026, you will receive a tax assessment from Belasting Samenwerking Rivierenland (BSR) for the 2026 base rate and the number of times you presented residual waste in 2025.
