Get a barrel with a gift certificate!

The municipality West Maas en Waal encourage residents to collect rainwater using a rain barrel. By doing so, they save drinking water and help make the municipality more resilient. In partnership with the GroenRijk Beneden-Leeuwen garden center, the municipality Beneden-Leeuwen residents an attractive discount: with a voucher, they can purchase a rain barrel for just €50. Normally, this rain barrel costs €109.99.

Good for the climate and your wallet

A rain barrel is an easy and sustainable way to collect water. It allows residents to water their gardens with rainwater instead of tap water. This conserves drinking water and reduces the strain on the sewer system during heavy rainfall. Storing water is also useful for dry periods.

Alderman Jan Slootweg emphasizes the importance of this initiative:
“With a rain barrel, we can work together to do something for our community. You’re helping to conserve water and prevent flooding. I’m glad we Beneden-Leeuwen do this together with GroenRijk Beneden-Leeuwen . Through this partnership, we’re making it easier for residents to contribute to a greener and more climate-resilient West Maas en Waal.”

How does the promotion work?

Starting November 10, residents of West Maas en Waal apply for a voucher through the municipality’s website. The voucher can be picked up at the town hall from November 24 through December 24. With this voucher, residents can purchase Beneden-Leeuwen 200-liter rain barrel from GroenRijk Beneden-Leeuwen for just €50. The rain barrel can be purchased through December 29, 2025.
