Splitting a property
What is it?
As a homeowner, you can subdivide your property. This allows you to convert the space into multiple apartments. If you wish to do so, you will need a permit from the municipality.
How does it work?
The municipality determines whether you are permitted to subdivide your property. In doing so, it takes the following into account:
- the distribution of housing in the municipality
- Subdividing a home should not hinder urban renewal
- whether the property is suitable for subdivision
What should I do?
- You apply for the permit with the municipality.
- Sometimes you also need an environmental permit. For example, if you’re planning to renovate.
