Redevelopment of Rooijsestraat
The sewer system and roadway in the section of Rooijsestraat between De Paulus and Kanteel are in need of replacement. We also want to give the street a village character and make it safer for traffic. This can be achieved by designating the road as a 30 km/h zone. By disconnecting rainwater from the sewage system, among other things, we are making the street future-proof.
The final design
Resident evenings were held in May and November 2024. During the first evening, we gathered your ideas and wishes for the redevelopment. Based on these and our preconditions, we drew up a preliminary design. We presented this during the second evening. We collected your responses to this in a response memorandum. This memorandum also contains our responses to your comments.
To the response memorandum Rooijsestraat
For your convenience, we have also summarized the response memorandum. You can find it below.
Based on your responses, we adjusted the preliminary design to create a final design. The final design and cross-sections can be found in the downloadable files at the bottom of this page.
Request for additional measures
A few residents indicated that they considered the final design to be insufficiently safe. We believe that we have taken sufficient measures. However, we take concerns about traffic safety seriously. That is why we have added five additional traffic-calming measures to the design. This was possible without making too many changes to the design.
Please indicate by March 1 at the latest whether or not you want a measure to be taken.
Among the files available for download, you will find a site plan showing the five measures. The photos show what this will look like in other places in the municipality. This will give you a better idea of what is involved and enable you to vote carefully using the response form.
Please indicate 'yes' or 'no' for each measure on this form. If there are enough 'yes' votes, at least 50% of the addresses, we will implement the measure. You may complete one form per address.
Not voting? Then we assume that you are happy with the design as it was.
We will only include those addresses to which we sent a letter. These are the addresses of the residents who we also invited to the residents' evenings.
Next steps
The results of the vote will be posted on this page on March 6. Based on these results, the design will be finalized and we will proceed with its implementation. The final design will then be available in the downloadable files section.
On Monday, March 9, there will be an open house for all residents of Dreumel.
You can drop in between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. at D'n Hoender, Nieuwstraat 10 in Dreumel.
The final design will be on display and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
This design cannot be changed after that.
Residents living in the area that we are going to redesign are fully aware of the latest developments.
We expect to start work in mid-2026. We will provide you with information about this before then, including the phasing and planning of the work and contact details. You will also receive more information about disconnecting the rainwater from your home using the water tile.
Vitens will carry out work in the street at the beginning of summer 2026. After that, we will start the redevelopment. The advantage is that the street will only be dug up once. Vitens will inform local residents via their own communication channels.
Will you join us?
We are installing a rainwater sewer. This will reduce flooding in the surrounding streets during heavy rainfall. You can also help by disconnecting your property. You can read what this means in the flyer Disconnecting rainwater Rooijsestraat. When we start the work, we will let you know how you can register for disconnection.
