Response to Rooijsestraat Final Design
Response 1
Is the church available for a funeral during the fair?
Response from the municipality
The municipality has made agreements about this with the parish council. The church is always available for funerals.
Response 2
Only set up one-way traffic for freight vehicles after the square
Response from the municipality
This has been applied.
Response 3
Can we get an example of what the rebate strips will look like along the property line? Otherwise, it's very nice!
Response from the municipality
The rebate strip is similar to a narrow sidewalk. It is a curb with paving stones.
Response 4
Nice plans, looks good. Still need to consider the trash cans where these stalls are located if there are parking spaces in front of the sidewalk.
Response from the municipality
We are creating a number of places where wheelie bins can be placed. We are installing wheelie bin tiles here.
Response 5
If there is no buffer zone in the form of a sidewalk or parking space on either side of the design, this increases the risk of dangerous situations and possible injury. One suggestion here could be to divide the combined sidewalk and parking space on the east side between the west and east sides to create a buffer zone on both sides.
Response from the municipality
A wide sidewalk was chosen for the east side of the street. The street is too narrow for sidewalks on both sides.
Response 6
With the two most important issues in mind, I propose following the guidelines of the CROW (Independent Knowledge Center for Infrastructure, Public Space, and Traffic and Transport) regarding the minimum width for two-way traffic of 4.80 meters instead of the proposed 5.10 meters.
Response from the municipality
The proposed 5.10 m allows freight traffic and cars to pass each other.
At 4.80 m, this is not possible.
Response 7
Looks beautiful. Nice green spaces.
Response from the municipality
Thank you for your compliment.
Response 8
Since the road at the Kerkpad exit is, in my opinion, the narrowest, I wonder whether this will work and whether traffic will not pass too close to it. Why, for example, not extend the sidewalk on the side of Kerkpad and/or the Kerkpad exit across the entire width, with or without a crosswalk?
Response from the municipality
A wide sidewalk has been chosen for the east side of the street. In the technical design, we are making the rebate strip as wide as possible.
Response 9
Please install a crosswalk
Response from the municipality
In a 30 km/h zone, cars are expected to drive more slowly and be alert to other road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists. A crosswalk can actually lead to a false sense of security. The new street layout should encourage safe crossing at multiple locations.
Response 10
From Ekershof, a wide sidewalk on the north side. Mirror current design.
Response from the municipality
A wide sidewalk was chosen on the side of the shops. The sidewalk on the opposite side was widened up to Hienkershoff.
Response 11
The current lamppost at nos. 85 and 87 to illuminate the Zwaanstraat intersection is fine.
Response from the municipality
The intersection remains illuminated.
Response 12
Overall, a good design. Especially with one footpath and parking spaces. However, narrowing the road at Kerkpad is unwise. Poor visibility when turning onto Rooijsestraat from Kerkpad.
Response from the municipality
Thank you for your compliment. There are sufficient sight lines when entering and exiting Kerkpad. We take this into account when choosing the plants.
Response 13
This radical redevelopment should have been presented to the entire village, not just to the residents of this part of Rooijsestraat.
Response from the municipality
A different participation process has been chosen.
Response 14
For safety reasons, narrowing the roadway is not a good option.
Response from the municipality
Narrowings and false plateaus have been chosen. Thresholds cause vibrations, which we want to avoid.
Response 15
Making the Van Heemstraweg one-way for freight traffic is a drastic measure.
Have you sufficiently taken into account alternative driving routes in the event of an emergency on the Van Heemstraweg?
Response from the municipality
In the event of emergencies, there are sufficient alternative routes. Emergency services will be notified of these. Rooijsestraat will always remain easily accessible.
Response 16
Would it be possible to purchase a section of orchard near no. 68 to create a parking lot with electric charging facilities?
Response from the municipality
We are not purchasing any land for this project.
Response 17
We urge you to take into account the vegetation in and around the mill biotope. The rules for this are included in the Dreumel-Dorp zoning plan.
Response from the municipality
The green plan takes into account the designated windmill biotope.
Response 18
The road narrowing at our driveway prevents us from keeping our own property accessible for trucks. Please take this into account.
Response from the municipality
The entrance remains accessible to freight traffic. The narrowing has been adjusted.
Response 19
Originally, all homes on Rooijsestraat had parking facilities on their own property. The fact that current residents now use the street as a parking lot is a reversal of the normal situation. The goal should therefore be to keep parked cars off the street rather than driving cars.
Response from the municipality
A decision has been made to create a number of parking spaces in combination with green areas.
Response 20
Due to noise pollution and vibrations, it is advisable to use asphalt instead of clinkers. Clinkers can become slippery more quickly in winter, which can also cause dangerous situations. Clinkers also require more maintenance in the long term due to subsidence.
Response from the municipality
The paving bricks are laid and secured in such a way that they do not vibrate. To further prevent this, no speed bumps are used. Clinkers are easier to maintain and have a longer lifespan than asphalt.
Response 21
You consider the greening of Rooijsestraat to be a priority, but this street already has plenty of large gardens and trees.
Response from the municipality
It's nice when there's a lot of greenery in gardens. However, we have no influence on this.
Response 22
The planned road narrowing (at Kerkpad) would be better replaced by a crosswalk so that the traffic behavior of hurried drivers can be avoided. There is always someone who thinks they have to be first.
Response from the municipality
In a 30 km/h zone, cars are expected to drive more slowly and be alert to other road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists. A crosswalk can actually lead to a false sense of security. The new street layout should encourage safe crossing at multiple locations.
Response 23
Retain section of sidewalk at the bend in Rooijsestraat - Hienkershoff.
Response from the municipality
This has been modified. The section of sidewalk will remain in place.
Response 24
Replace the Zuivelweg intersection with a level crossing.
Response from the municipality
The house on the corner of Zuivelweg severely restricts visibility. This makes the situation unclear. Therefore, the situation remains unchanged.
Response 25
Move the tire line at 93 so that a sidewalk can be created here.
Response from the municipality
Due to the limited availability of housing, a green structure was chosen here. The side with the shops has been designated as a walking route.
Response 26
Move the tire line at 67 to create a sidewalk here.
Response from the municipality
This has been modified. The sidewalk will remain unchanged.
Response 27
Remove the parking lot at the corner of Groot Hogeveld. Extend the green strip.
Response from the municipality
This has been modified; the parking space has been removed. The green strip has been extended minimally. This is due to limited visibility.
Response 28
Has the location of cables and pipes been checked?
Response from the municipality
The location is known and verified. This also applies to the placement of the trees.
Response 29
A footpath from Zwaanstraat to Hienkershoff.
Response from the municipality
There is a wide footpath on the side of the shops. On the other side, we are making the rebate strip as wide as possible.
Response 30
Extend the optical measure at the exit of Kerkepad. This is to mark the exit.
Response from the municipality
From a traffic perspective, this is not a desirable situation.
Response 31
Maintenance of adjacent hedges along sidewalk
Response from the municipality
The owner of the hedge is responsible for trimming it back. Enforcement can issue a warning and then enforce the rule.
Response 32
Location of the light poles in combination with cables, pipes, and trees
Response from the municipality
The lighting plan takes into account the tree canopy and existing pipes.
Response 33
Trees in combination with awnings and through traffic
Response from the municipality
The planting plan takes into account the size/width of the tree crown.
Response 34
Not enough parking spaces at hn 74.
Response from the municipality
The homes here have their own driveways. Parking spaces have been provided for homes without driveways. Parking along the road is also permitted.
Response 35
Proposal to retain parking and green strip at house number 89
Response from the municipality
The road is too narrow for this. The sidewalk on the side of the shops would then be removed.
Response 36
Is the 5.10 m road width a minimum or maximum?
Response from the municipality
The proposed 5.10 m allows freight traffic and cars to pass each other safely. In some places, this is 5.00 m because otherwise traffic would come too close to the property boundaries/walls. The shoulder is wide enough throughout the entire street to prevent this.
Response 37
Place two large trees with seating edges on the church square.
Response from the municipality
In consultation with the parish, it has been decided not to plant these trees. This is because it would be at the expense of parking spaces and the fairground.
