What is it?

Do you want to cut down one or more trees, transplant large shrubs, or prune them heavily?
If so, use the Permit Check on the Omgevingsloket website. It provides a clear overview of all the rules regarding your tree-cutting activities.
From there, you can easily submit your application. To do so, use DigiD or eHerkenning.

Rivierenland Environmental Agency

What should I do?

Would you like to apply for a permit?
In that case, you must be the owner of the land on which the tree stands.

Do you have neighbors?
If so, check with them first to see if they have any objections to cutting down the tree.

Do you need a permit or do you need to file a report? Please indicate:

  • what kind of tree it is
  • where the tree stands
  • the diameter in centimeters, measured 1.30 meters above ground level
  • whether there is one tree or more
  • how you want to approach the haircut
  • why you want to cut down the tree
  • or you're going to replant

Is the tree diseased?
If so, please include a statement from a tree expert.

How long does it take?

You will be notified within 8 weeks whether your permit has been granted.
The municipality may extend this period by 6 weeks. An additional 4 weeks may be added if the municipality needs advice and/or approval from another competent authority.

Permit denied

You will not be granted a permit if the municipality considers other matters to be more important. Examples include:

  • nature conservation
  • cultural history
  • the landscape
  • cityscape or village scene

File an objection

Do you disagree with the municipality’s decision?
