Notify us of your move

Please note:

Are you moving to an address in West Maas en Waal where someone already lives? For example, are you moving back in with your parents, or are you moving in with a partner?

In that case, this person must fill out the "Authorization by Primary Resident" form.

Your move will not be processed until we have received both forms:

  • your moving form
  • the "Consent from the Primary Resident" form

What is it?

  • If you move to or within the municipality of West Maas en Waal, you must report this to us.
  • Please do this no later than 5 days after you move.

If you are late in reporting this, it could affect your housing allowance, student financial aid, parking permit, local taxes, or benefits.

Moving abroad

If you are moving abroad from the municipality, you must notify the municipality no later than 5 days before your departure. You will then be filing a declaration of emigration. Different rules apply to emigration. The section “Moving Abroad” explains what you need to do.

How does it work?

The following people may report a change of address:

  • everyone aged 16 and older for themselves
  • spouses or registered partners living together (only if they move from one address to another together)
  • the parent, guardian, or caregiver of minor children
  • parent(s) of adult children living at home (only if they move together from one address to another)
  • Adult children living with their parent(s) (only if they move together from one address to another)
  • the guardian of a person who has been placed under guardianship
  • the director of the facility for residents
  • someone who has authorized you to report the move on their behalf

Authorize someone

To request authorization, please write a letter containing the following information:

'I, (your initials, last name, date of birth, place of birth, and address), hereby authorize the person listed below (initials, last name, date of birth, place of birth, and address of the person you are authorizing) to report my change of address from (old address) to (new address).'

Sign this letter and give it to the representative.

At the counter, the authorized representative must present the following:

  • his or her valid ID
  • (a copy of) your valid ID
  • proof of your new address, such as a purchase or lease agreement, or permission from the primary resident if you are moving in with someone
  • the signed letter of authorization

Agencies that need your moving information

The municipality will notify the relevant agencies of your move so they can use this information to carry out their legal duties.

What should I do?

Notify your new municipality of your move. You must do this no later than 5 days after you have moved. If you wish to notify them earlier, you may do so up to 4 weeks before your moving date.

Please note:

If you report your change of address after moving, the date of the move will be considered the date of the change of address. However, you must do this within 5 days of moving.

  • If you report the change later, the date on which you notify the municipality of the change will be the official date of the change of address.
  • If you have notified the municipality of a future move, it will update your address information on the date you provide. This will then be the date of your change of address.

Be sure to provide all the information the municipality needs. Otherwise, the municipality will not update your address information.

What do I need?

Submit online

  • You can report your move online using DigiD. If you don’t have a DigiD yet, you can apply for one at DigiD.nl. You’ll receive your DigiD login code by mail within a few days.

Pass on personally

  • your valid ID

Submit in writing

  • the municipality's change-of-address form
  • your signature on the form
  • a copy of your valid ID

How long does it take?

The municipality will update your address information within 5 business days.

Additional information

If you are moving in with someone or starting to live together, you must also submit the following documents to the municipality:

  • a copy of your valid ID
  • written statement from the primary resident
  • copy of the primary resident's ID

Will you be staying in a vacation rental (house, chalet, or mobile home)?

Permanent residence in a vacation home is not permitted.
