What is the Future-Proof Housing Loan?

You are a homeowner in our municipality and you want to save energy or make your home more sustainable—for example, by adding insulation or installing solar panels. Perhaps you also want to make modifications to your home so you can continue living there as you get older—for example, by adding a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. The Future-Proof Living Loan makes it possible!

Loan through the Dutch Public Housing Incentive Fund

Together with the Province, we offer an attractive loan option to help you improve your home: the “Future-Proof Housing Loan.” We provide the Future-Proof Housing Loan through the Dutch Public Housing Incentive Fund (SVn). You can find more information about the Future-Proof Housing Loan on the SVn website at.

You are eligible for the loan if you:

• You want to make your home more sustainable;
• Want to remove asbestos from the roof;
• I want to repair the foundation;
• You want to take measures to make your home age-friendly.

Please note, however, that you must always implement at least one energy-saving measure. Examples of energy-saving measures include roof insulation or solar panels. You can find more examples in the list of measures for the Future-Proof Living Loan.

Step-by-step guide to applying for a loan

1. Find out which loan is right for you.
   • Individuals: There are three types of loans. Not sure which one is best for your situation? Contact your financial advisor.
   • Homeowners' Association: There are two types of loans. Not sure which one is best for your situation? Contact your financial advisor.
2. Choose which measures you want to take. You must always take at least 1 energy-saving measure. If you don't know which sustainability measure is best for you, please contact the Energy Desk of the municipality of West Maas en Waal.
3. Fill out the online application. Please include a budget (quotes and/or a plan of action with a cost estimate). Do you need an environmental permit? If so, please include that as well.
4. The municipality of West Maas en Waal will assess your application within 8 weeks. You will receive a letter in which we approve your application or request more information. If your application is approved, the letter will explain how to finalize the loan with SVn (Stimuleringsfonds Volkshuisvesting).
5. SVn will perform a credit check and send you the loan offer.
6. You must sign the SVn loan agreement and return it. Only then may you begin implementing the measures. You submit your invoices, and they will be paid out thereafter.
