Renovation on Jasmijnstraat in Beneden-Leeuwen

This street is in need of some sprucing up.

The main services we provide

  • replacing the street pavers
  • replacing the sidewalk pavers
  • replacement of the sewer system
  • Installation of a new sewer line to drain rainwater (see flyer)
  • replacing the plants in the flower beds
  • planting new and more trees

The layout of the street will remain as it is now, as much as possible. You can see this in the preliminary design drawing for Jasmijnstraat.

Disconnecting from the stormwater system; sign up

We are installing a storm sewer in Jasmijnstraat. This will help reduce flooding during heavy rain. You can help too! You can do this by disconnecting your downspout from the storm sewer. This can only be done at the front of the house. It’s free, and we’ll take care of it for you. You can read more about this in the “Disconnecting Jasmijnstraat” flyer. To have your downspout disconnected, please sign up by filling out the registration form. We will then contact you to discuss whether disconnecting your downspout is actually feasible.

Comments on the new (preliminary) draft

The preliminary design is available at the bottom of this page among the downloadable files.
It was possible to suggest minor changes to this design. You could submit your feedback via a comment form until March 8. You could also share your thoughts on the new layout. We received a few responses.

The response memorandum and the final draft are ready

We compiled the feedback forms into a feedback report. This report also includes our response to all comments. Based on the feedback report, we created a final design. In this design, the intersection with Rozenstraat has been modified. We opted for a temporary pavement. This will remain in place until Rozenstraat is due for a facelift.

Questions/commentsAnswers
(Questions via phone call)
As the spokesperson for the street, I have a few questions:
1. Will a representative from the municipality be available to speak with while the work is being carried out?
2. Can the green area with the tree at the corner of No. 20 and Zonnebloemstraat 6 be removed so that the driveways can be connected?
3. Can a speed bump or something similar be installed to limit the speed on the street?
4. What about access to our homes? This is in connection with urgent matters.
5. What is the status of the water tile?
1. During construction, a municipal supervisor will be on site a few times a week. You can ask him any questions you may have about the project.
2. We have removed the green area with the tree. The driveways at Zonnebloemstraat 6 and Jasmijnstraat 20 are now connected.
3. A speed bump can cause unpleasant vibrations in homes. We don’t want that. Narrowing the road could be an option. However, this would require removing parking spaces. After consulting with residents of the street, we have decided not to implement this additional measure.
4. All homes will remain accessible on foot at all times during the work. Do you anticipate any issues? If so, please discuss them with the supervisor during the project.
5. During the project, you will have the opportunity to register your address for the water tile. After you register, the supervisor and/or the contractor will visit you. Together with you, they will assess whether disconnection is possible and what the work exactly entails. This may vary by address. You will then decide whether to participate in the disconnection. Disconnection is free of charge (in conjunction with the work).

In the Jasmijnstraat design, a tree is planned for the site of our second garage, where there is currently a second driveway.
We would like to see this tree removed and three driveways built side by side, just like on the Rozenstraat side between nos. 2 and 19.
The design has been modified at your request.
The green area with the tree has been removed. The driveways at 6 Zonnebloemstraat and 20 Jasmijnstraat are now connected.
(Questions by phone)
Our driveway was widened in the past; will it remain as wide as it is now in the new design?
We revised the design.
In the final design, the driveway will be at least as wide as it is now.

Start of work

The contractor will begin work on Monday, March 23. The work will be carried out in several phases. Local residents have received a letter from the contractor regarding this. Information about the street closure can be found on the roadwork page.
