Renovation of Bernhardstraat Boven-Leeuwen

Part of this street is in need of renovation. This is the section between Florastraat and Faunastraat.

The most important activities

  • We are replacing several sections of the roadway.
  • We are redesigning the hardened strip between the roadway and the property line.
  • The traffic-calming measures that are currently in place will remain in the same location but in a different form.

Residents' turn to fill in form

We created a preliminary design for the street. This design can be found at the bottom of the page among the downloadable files. A number of things have been decided. For example, the roadway will be made of paving stones. The locations of the two traffic-calming measures will remain the same, and one more will be added near house numbers 20-23 (see the preliminary design at the bottom of the page).

In a number of cases, local residents can indicate how they would prefer to see part of the street designed. This applies to the type of traffic-calming measures and the paved strip. Until December 19, it was possible to respond to this via a response form. After that, we will collect all the forms.

Information for completing the response form

In the response form, we ask you to indicate your preference for the new pavement strip and traffic-calming measures.

Hardening strip

The pavement strip is the strip between the roadway and the property line. We will repair this. Please indicate what you would prefer to have in front of your door.

You can choose from:

  • street bricks, then parking is possible
  • grass-permeable stones, then parking is possible (rainwater drains away more easily)
  • planting, then parking is not possible
  • combination of the above options

Traffic calming measures.

The location of the traffic-calming measures has been determined. Two will be in the same place as now, and one will be added near house numbers 20-23 (see the draft design at the bottom of the page).

You can choose from:

  • thresholds, such as in the Trambaan in Beneden-Leeuwen
  • staggered road narrowing with planting, such as in Zandstraat-Oost
    in Beneden-Leeuwen

Next steps

We collect all responses and respond to them. We compile all responses and our responses in a response memorandum. We publish the response memorandum on this page. The drawing, the preliminary design, is amended on the basis of the response memorandum. Local residents receive a letter when this preliminary design is published on the website.

Residents will then have the opportunity to respond to this preliminary design. This can be done using the response form on this page. We will compile these responses in a response memorandum, which will contain our answers to the responses. Based on this, we will produce a final drawing. The street will be renovated based on the final drawing. We will do this in 2026. Before we start, you will receive another letter from us.
