3 large-scale solar farms

West Maas en Waal three new solar farms, covering a total area of over 24 hectares. The permits for these farms have now been finalized. The farms have not yet been built; the developers are waiting for a connection to the power grid.
Careful selection
After review by a municipal selection committee, these three initiatives were chosen as the best. They fit best into our landscape and offer the greatest benefit to the community. A total of 13 applications were submitted.
The current selection guidelines are still formally in effect, but are no longer actively applied. Should the municipality wish to select solar parks again in the future, new selection guidelines will first be drafted.

- Dalenstraat Agri-PV Park in Beneden-Leeuwen 11.3 hectares)
Statkraft is developing a solar park here in combination with agricultural use. The solar panels track the sun. This means the agricultural land remains agricultural land, and the solar panels can be mounted vertically so that farm machinery can pass through them.

TP-Solar is developing a solar park here that will include the creation of new natural areas. The plan also includes space for recreational activities. This creates a balance between green energy production, biodiversity, recreation, and the landscape.

Sunvest is developing a solar park here on a site currently used as pastureland for a horse boarding facility. The plan places a strong emphasis on seamless integration into the landscape to create a habitat for partridges and other farmland birds. The project also aligns with the water board’s ecological goals. As a result, a habitat will be developed for species such as the crested newt.

TP-Solar and Sunvest both use battery storage, which reduces the strain on the power grid. In addition, they coordinate the landscape elements.
Policy Vision and Selection Guidelines for Solar Energy
At its meeting on June 17, 2021 ( ), the municipal council the “Zon” policy vision ( ). A selection guideline for solar energy was also drawn up for the assessment of solar park initiatives. This guideline is still current as a document but is no longer used for new applications. A new selection guideline will be drawn up only when the municipality wishes to select new solar parks.
