By 2030, West Maas en Waal will be known as an attractive place to live. That is one of our 15 priorities from the 2030 Quality of Life Vision.

With the Housing Vision, the municipality of West Maas en Waal and De Kernen are pursuing a number of goals:

  1. Housing vision as a building block for the Environmental Vision for urban centers:
In 2022, we will start the (follow-up) process for the West Maas en Waal Environmental Vision. The Environmental Vision for rural areas forms the basis for this. We are broadening this vision to include other types of areas (including villages) and further developing other themes that are important for the physical living environment. The Housing Vision describes the vision for living in the centers and thus forms an important building block for the environmental vision.
  2. A practical basis for policy implementation:
The Housing Vision forms the basis for plans by initiators related to housing in West Maas en Waal. They are asked to take the municipality's policy principles into account. And for the municipality, the Housing Vision is the starting point for assessing plans that do not directly fit within the possibilities of the zoning plan or the environmental plan.
  3. Connection with other policy themes:
A good living environment depends on more than just the home and the residential environment. It is therefore important to work together and establish connections with different policy areas: an integrated approach.
  4. Cooperative management:
The Housing Vision provides the framework for performance agreements with De Kernen and the tenants' organization.
