Alderman de Vree will step down effective December 1, 2020
Alderman Ton de Vree has decided to step down as Alderman of the municipality of West Maas en Waal as of December 1. He has been active in politics for 18 years. The first 12 years as a council member, then as an Alderman. Who will succeed Ton de Vree is not yet known.
Alderman de Vree is responsible for the portfolios of finance, sustainability, the environment, sports, culture, and facilities policy

“A difficult but well-considered decision,” said Alderman de Vree. “I’ve noticed lately that the balance between my work and personal life is no longer in equilibrium. That means it’s time to make different choices,” the Alderman explained.
Proud of what we’ve achieved together
“I look back with fondness on the more than 18 years I spent serving as an elected official and administrator in this wonderful municipality. I am proud of what we have achieved together. The sense of community and the residents’ commitment to the municipality have always been evident to me. Together with staff, fellow council members, and the executive board, we have built a stable municipality. It has been a wonderful time during which I have been able to contribute to the quality of life in the villages,” said Ton de Vree.
