Financial reward

Of course, you will earn a salary when you work for us. A minimum and maximum salary has been set for each position. The scale and periodical you are assigned to depends on the position and your (work) experience.

View the most up-to-date salary scales.

Choice budget

In addition to your salary, you will also receive a discretionary budget: the Individual Choice Budget (IKB). This is a (monetary) budget that can be used flexibly each month for the goals you choose yourself.

How is the IKB structured?

The IKB is a fixed percentage of 17.05% of your salary. It is accrued monthly and consists of:

  • Vacation pay 8%
  • Year-end bonus 6.75%
  • Lifetime contribution 1.5%
  • Leave in excess of statutory requirements 0.8%

What can you spend it on?

You have access to this budget at any time during the current calendar year. You can use the amount for:

  • Additional salary or vacation hours
  • Reimbursement of union dues
  • Purchase of a bicycle
  • Commuting costs

Travel expenses and working from home allowance

Commuting expenses

  • No travel allowance is paid for distances under 10 km.
  • €0.23 per km with a maximum of 24 km one way

Business trip

  • €0.28 per km for business trips

Home office allowance

Leave

You are entitled to leave. Your leave consists of statutory and non-statutory leave:

  • Statutory leave is four times the number of hours you work per week. Anyone employed full-time (36 hours per week) is entitled to 144 hours of statutory leave.
  • The extra leave entitlement is 57.6 hours per year for full-time employment.

Would you like more vacation days? Then use your Individual Choice Budget (IKB).

In our time registration system, you accumulate plus (or minus) hours. You can take these plus hours as leave.

Flexible working

The number of hours you work per week depends on your position. A full-time job at the municipality is 36 hours. For some positions, it is important to be present at certain times, while this requirement does not apply to other positions. You can make arrangements about this with your team manager and team.

You have the option to work from home and will be provided with a cell phone and laptop on loan.

Continue to develop

We believe it is important that you do work that you are good at and that you continue to develop your talents.
You may pursue a course of study or training on your own initiative or at the initiative of your team manager. Within our municipality, we do not have a study budget per employee. We have an annual training budget that we distribute across the organization according to need.

Well insured

The collective labor agreement for municipalities states that every employee is entitled to a contribution toward the cost of health insurance. It does not matter which health insurer you are with or which supplementary package you have. The amount of the contribution depends on your salary.

  • You will receive €296 gross if your salary is lower than or equal to the maximum of salary scale 6.
  • You will receive €168 gross if your salary exceeds the maximum for salary scale 6.

Retirement

If you work for the government, you are automatically affiliated with the General Civil Service Pension Fund (ABP).

Your pension consists of a mandatory fixed portion that you can supplement at your own expense. When you retire, you can choose to start receiving your pension earlier or later, and you can also receive it in stages, allowing you to take partial retirement. For more information, visit: www.abp.nl.

Act on the Normalization of the Legal Status of Civil Servants (Wnra)

If you join the municipality of West Maas en Waal, you will become a civil servant, but your legal status will be governed by civil law. This means that we will agree on an employment contract, but you will also be subject to the Civil Servants Act 2017. This is a consequence of the Act on the Normalization of the Legal Status of Civil Servants ( , Wnra).
