Certifying copies or transcripts

What is it?

The municipality can issue certified copies of certain documents, such as your passport or driver's license. By certifying the copy, the civil servant declares that it is an exact replica of the original.

You may need a certified copy or certified transcript for:

  • formal transactions, such as buying a house
  • cases where you do not want to hand over the original document, for example, when providing a copy of an identity document

Please note

Copies of diplomas and certificates are not certified by the municipality. For this, you can contact the educational institution where you obtained the diploma or certificate. Documents with a religious character are also not certified by the municipality.

What should I do?

To have a transcript or copy certified, you must visit the municipality in person.

What do I need?

  • the original document
  • a valid form of identification

How long will it take?

You will receive the certified copy or copies immediately.
