Setting off fireworks

The sales days for fireworks are usually the last 3 working days of the year.
You may have a maximum of 25 kg of fireworks per household.
All rules regarding the purchase of fireworks can be found on the US government website.
Lighting
You may set off fireworks between 6 p.m. on December 31 and 2 a.m. on January 1.
Additional information
Legal fireworks can be recognized by the label "intended for private use." The label must contain the following information:
- a description or image of the type of fireworks with the expected effects
- the (trade) name and address of the manufacturer, importer, or distributor established in the Netherlands
- the manufacturer's item number and year of manufacture
- a good user manual in Dutch
- the minimum age of the person to whom fireworks may be sold
- the phrase: for outdoor use only
- the NEM: the total amount of pyrotechnic substance in the product
If fireworks do not meet all of the above criteria, they are illegal. You may not purchase or set off illegal fireworks. Always purchase fireworks from a retailer with a valid license. That way, you can be sure that the fireworks are legal. These retailers have a sign in their window that reads: 'Sale of fireworks. Smoking and open flames prohibited.'
