Early detection

What is early detection?

As a resident, are you failing to pay important fixed expenses?
In that case, your energy or water supplier, health insurer, or landlord will try to ensure that you still pay the bill.

Are you not responding to payment reminders and attempts to contact you?
Then the five major fixed-cost partners are obliged to report this to the municipality. This concerns rent, gas, water, electricity, and health insurance. This happens when you are more than 30 days behind with your payments.

The municipality must take action when we receive such a signal. We work together with Verder(formerly PLANgroep) on this.

How does early detection work?

will alsocontact you on our behalf, for example by telephone, letter/email, or with a home visit. The purpose of this contact is to discuss together whether help is needed and what kind of help would be most appropriate. This offer is always voluntary, free of charge, and without obligation. They are happy to talk to you. They will look at the cause of the payment arrears and help you find a solution.

The support is voluntary. Assistance can take the form of one-off advice, but also debt counseling and/or care. They will ensure that you receive the right help as quickly as possible. The aim is to help you. If you do not wish to make use of this service, please let us know when we contact you.

How can I get help with money problems?

Many people feel guilty or ashamed when they are in debt. But did you know that this is much more common than you might think? Anyone can get into debt. Setbacks such as unemployment, illness, or divorce can cause people to get into financial difficulties.

Are you worried about your financial situation? Having trouble paying all your bills on time? The first step is to seek help. For example, you can contact the organization that sent you the bill. Perhaps you can arrange a payment plan.

Why early detection?

Many people with financial problems do not report them, or only do so at a very late stage. There can be various reasons for this, such as embarrassment. There is no need to feel embarrassed, but unfortunately this often causes problems to become worse.

National figures show that 1 in 5 households is at risk of risky or problematic debt. By discussing the issue in good time, major problems can be prevented. Financial problems, of course, but also problems that often arise as a result of financial worries. Think of stress, tensions at home, and physical complaints caused by stress.

What about my privacy?

Early detection has been mandatory for municipalities since January 1, 2021. National agreements have been made with the organizations involved. These are included in a contract. Fixed-cost partners must also comply with this.

The fixed costs partners report payment arrears in a secure database. We receive a notification of this. This is done in a secure manner. Only necessary data is shared. Furthermore, will contact you. Only these care providers will receive your personal data.

What if I don't want to participate and/or share my data?

If you do not want your data to be shared, please inform your housing association, energy company, and/or health insurer. When early warning assistance is offered, you can accept or decline it. Please indicate your preference when Verder contacts you. You can also choose whether or not to give permission for your data to be used.
