Volunteering, mentoring
What is it?
Volunteer work is work for which you do not receive any money. If you can make time to help others, you can do volunteer work.
If you are (long-term) unemployed, you may be eligible for social activation. This means that you can do volunteer work while retaining your benefits.
How does it work?
There is a foundation that can help (prospective) volunteers within the municipality: Stichting Sociom. This foundation runs a volunteer support center with a job bank on behalf of the municipality.
The Sociom Foundation has experience and knowledge in the field of volunteering and is also organized locally, which means it has already built up a network.
What should I do?
If you want to do volunteer work but don't know what or how, the volunteer center can help you. You can also contact this center with any other questions.
If you would like to register as a volunteer, you can do so via the volunteer center.
