Progress on the new Beneden-Leeuwen Child Care Center
Construction of the expansion of the Child Center in Beneden-Leeuwen in full swing. The project team is working energetically on the plan, and the first results are already clearly visible. Work is proceeding according to schedule and remains within budget. Completion is expected around late March or early April 2027. The building may be ready for use shortly thereafter.

Construction and contracting on schedule
The project’s bidding process has been successfully completed. The construction work has been awarded to Cornelissen and the installation work to Bevers. Both contractors were carefully selected and remained within the available budget.
By early April 2026, the construction site will be set up and groundwork will have begun. Additional work will be carried out during the May break to minimize disruption. On June 5, the foundation beams will be poured, a major step in the construction process. The floors and steel structure will be installed before the construction industry’s summer break. After that, timber-frame construction will begin. Progress is clearly visible, and the project is moving forward quickly.

Consideration for the environment
The municipality takes residents’ concerns about the traffic situation seriously. A school zone has been established around the Child Center, featuring traffic-calming measures to make the area safer and quieter. The situation will be monitored after completion. If adjustments are needed, they will be developed and submitted to the municipal council. Enforcement officers are monitoring the area, and feedback from the neighborhood has been largely positive.
Temporary solution for extra space
For the 2026–2027 school year, De Wijzer Elementary School will temporarily need additional space. The Municipality West Maas en Waal found a solution to this issue in collaboration with the parties involved. KION will temporarily relocate within the Pax Junior building, freeing up additional classrooms. Combined with modifications to the playroom, there will be sufficient space for all students Beneden-Leeuwen school in Beneden-Leeuwen . The work will be carried out during the summer break.
Toward a comprehensive Child Center with a park
Once construction is complete, the park surrounding the Child Center will also be landscaped. The goal is to complete both the building and the park at the same time. The city expects to present the park’s design to residents in September or October. Residents are invited to share their ideas so that a beautiful and well-rounded space can be created for children and the neighborhood.
