Transportation facilities

What is a transportation facility?

In certain cases, you can receive assistance to help you get around. This assistance is called a transportation service.

The municipality can provide transportation assistance if you are unable to travel or have limited mobility. This may be due to illness, disability, or old age. We will work with you to find a solution.

How does it work?

During a home visit, a VraagWijzer consultant will discuss with you the problems you experience in getting around in your neighborhood. They will investigate whether you can solve the problem yourself with the help of family, friends, and acquaintances, for example. They will also investigate whether a general assistance service could help you.

Sometimes it is immediately clear that transportation assistance is necessary. Sometimes it is not entirely clear, and it is necessary to seek independent medical advice.

If it is clear that transportation is necessary, this could include, for example:

  • a mobility scooter
  • a tricycle
  • a transport pass for the regional taxi
  • a modification to your car

A mobility scooter or, for example, a tricycle can be provided in kind. This means that a provider with whom the municipality has a contract will supply the equipment.

You can also choose to arrange the provision yourself. In that case, you will receive a sum of money (called a personal budget). Different rules apply to modifications to your car. For example, an adaptation plan must be drawn up, quotes from multiple suppliers must be submitted, etc. Whatever provision you require, you will always be informed about the procedure by the VraagWijzer consultant.

Depending on the provision, you may be required to pay a personal contribution. The CAK ( ) determines the amount of this personal contribution based on your income and assets and any other provisions you receive. For a regional taxi pass, you are not required to pay a personal contribution, apart from a small one-time fee for the pass itself.

What should I do?

  • Please contact VraagWijzer at 0487 790 790.
  • You can also send an email to info@vraagwijzerwmw.nl. Please state your question in your email. If necessary, provide additional explanation.
  • A VraagWijzer consultant will make an appointment with you for a meeting at your home. During this meeting, your question will be discussed in more detail and a possible solution will be sought together with you.
  • You will receive a report (personal support plan). Sign the report and add any comments you may have. Then return the report to VraagWijzer.

Does the report state that the municipality must provide a solution? Or have you indicated that you disagree with the solution proposed in the report and believe that the municipality should provide a solution to your problem?

By returning the report, you have immediately submitted an application.

How long will it take?

After you have registered with VraagWijzer, your report will be processed as soon as possible. There are currently waiting times. You will have to wait longer than usual. After receiving the report, which includes the application for a municipal solution, you will be notified as soon as possible whether you are eligible for this.

Additional information

The Social Support Act 2015 (Wmo 2015) aims to enable people to participate independently in society for as long as possible. For certain groups of people, this is not always easy. Think of elderly people or people with a physical or mental disability. These people can receive support. This allows them to continue doing as much as possible for themselves.
