Job opening Field Service Technician

Do you enjoy rolling up your sleeves to help create a clean and safe living environment? And do you enjoy working outdoors? Then be sure to read on! The Public Space Management Team is looking for an All-Around Field Technician for 36 hours per week.

What are you going to do?

No two days are the same in this varied job. You’ll be responsible for all maintenance work in public spaces. One day you’ll be working on the maintenance and repair of traffic signs, benches, fencing, or municipal buildings. The next day, you’ll be making repairs to playgrounds, facilities, and municipal equipment. You’ll handle repairs yourself whenever possible. If you can’t figure it out, you’ll call in an outside contractor after consulting with your supervisor. You’ll empty municipal trash cans and set up barriers in preparation for events. In addition, you’ll serve as a market marshal every other Friday. You’ll ensure everything runs smoothly: you’ll set up and take down crowd barriers, maintain traffic safety, and resolve minor issues. Finally, you’ll work at the recycling center on Saturdays about eight times a year, as agreed upon. There, you’ll primarily handle Household Hazardous Waste. You’ll receive training for this.

What do we expect from you?

You have a keen technical understanding and enjoy physical work. Safety is always your top priority, and you make sure to perform every task carefully and safely.

You:

  • Do you have experience in a similar role? If not, we still encourage you to apply. We’d be happy to explore the possibilities with you;
  • Can work well independently;
  • Are customer-oriented;
  • You must have a BE driver's license. A C and T driver's license is preferred;
  • Have a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).

It would be great if you could help with snow and ice removal (if you have a Class C driver's license).

What do we offer you?

  • A salary of up to €3,579 (Pay Grade 5) for a 36-hour workweek. The salary depends on your education and experience;
  • A one-year employment contract. If your performance is satisfactory, we will convert this to a permanent contract;
  • A monthly supplement of 17.05% of your gross salary: the Individual Choice Budget (IKB). You can use this for things like extra pay, vacation time, or a new bicycle. For you, this amounts to a maximum of €600.84 per month. This includes vacation pay, year-end bonus, and life-course savings contributions. The amount depends on the pay scale you are assigned to;
  • A good pension plan with the ABP Pension Fund;
  • A commuting allowance;
  • A wellness allowance of €500 gross per year (based on a 36-hour workweek). For example, for a gym membership, sportswear, or a visit to the sauna;
  • Your daily serving of fruit;
  • Ample free parking for your car and bicycle;
  • A friendly and informal work environment. Your colleagues will welcome you with open arms and make sure you feel right at home.

Your future team

Of course, it’s helpful to know where you’ll be working after the two rounds of interviews. You’ll be joining the Public Space Management team. An informal, enthusiastic, and hard-working team consisting of 15 office staff and 25 field staff. As an employee, you’re never on your own; you’re part of the bigger picture. Together with your colleagues, you’ll work based on the core values of Together, Responsible, and Professional. You know your strengths and limitations and always ask yourself: where and how can I add value?
