Extract of personal data from the BRP
What is it?
You can request a BRP extract BRP various reasons. For example, to take an exam, enroll in school, register with the Chamber of Commerce, or sign up for a training program. You will also need an extract for a housing authority (co-tenant and housing approval).
In the Basic Register of Persons (BRP) contains information on everyone who lives or has lived in the Netherlands. You can request an extract of this personal data from the municipality where you are registered. The extract will include at least the following:
- name
- address
- place of residence
- date of birth
The cost of a personal data extract is:
- €13.00
What should I do?
You can BRP a BRP personal data extract for:
- yourself
- your child who lives with you and is under 16 years of age
- on behalf of someone else, if that person has authorized you to do so
You BRP your BRP extract from the municipality. There are several ways to do this.
Apply online
Request your BRP online. To do so, you will need the following:
- your DigiD. Don’t have a DigiD yet? You can request one at DigiD.nl. You’ll receive your DigiD login code within a few days.
- online banking credentials
Submit a written request
Please send the following items to the municipality:
- a letter explaining why you need the extract
- your signature on the letter
- a copy of your valid ID
Apply in person
Please bring the following items to the municipal office:
- your valid ID
- debit card or cash
Authorize someone
Would you like to authorize someone to request your BRP? If so, please write a letter containing the following information:
- the reason why you need the extract
- name of the authorized representative
- your signature
- signature of the authorized representative
The authorized representative must apply for your BRP in person at the municipal office. To do so, the authorized representative must bring the following documents:
- valid identification of the authorized representative
- (a copy of) your valid ID
- the signed letter of authorization
Request an extract from the Non-Resident Registration (RNI)
- Do you live abroad? Or are you no longer registered with a Dutch municipality? If so, your personal data is stored in the Non-Residents Register (RNI).

What should I bring?
To apply online, you will need:
- your DigiD
- online banking credentials
Apply in person
- valid identification
- debit card or cash
Submit a written request
- a copy of your valid ID
- a letter explaining why you need the extract
- your signature on the letter
Authorize someone else
The authorized representative will take your letter of authorization to the municipality along with:
- a copy of your valid ID
- his or her own identification
How long does it take?
- Are you requesting your extract online or by mail? If so, the municipality will send it to you by mail.
- If you request your extract in person at the municipal office, you’ll receive it right away. This also applies if you authorize someone else to do so.
