Floodplains Wamel Dreumel Heerewaarden

The Waal River and its floodplains as a valuable habitat where people, animals, and plants feel at home.

Working together on river nature is a partnership between Rijkswaterstaat and other parties, including provinces, water boards, Staatsbosbeheer (the Dutch Forestry Commission) and local stakeholders.

Progress of the project Working together on river nature

Since the end of 2016, work has been underway on a plan for nature development in the floodplains of Wamel, Dreumel, and Heerewaarden (UWDH). The province of Gelderland, Rijkswaterstaat, and Staatsbosbeheer are taking the lead in this project.
