Expansion of the Beneden-Leeuwen Child Care Center

The Municipal Executive has decided to support the expansion of the Beneden-Leeuwen Child Center. This proposal will municipal council presented to the municipal council on September 12, 2024. The decision is based on a well-founded business case and a plan developed in consultation with the users.
Why is expansion necessary?
Over the next 15 years, the number of students will continue to grow, leading to a shortage of space at the Kindcentrum. Therefore, an expansion is necessary. The 1,700-square-meter expansion will be housed in a new two-story building. This building will be located in the area between Van Heemstraweg and the Pax Junior/Kindcentrum. Changes will also be made to the public space to accommodate the expansion.
Alderman Reuvers: "The expansion of the Beneden-Leeuwen Child Center Beneden-Leeuwen an important step toward providing our children with the space and facilities they need for their development. With this investment, we are ensuring that the Child Center is future-proof and ready for growth in the coming years."
Zoning Plan Amendment
To make this expansion possible, the zoning plan must be amended. This means that Heideakkerweg will be closed off, and a roundabout will be built near the fire station. The area between Van Heemstraweg and the Pax Junior/Kindcentrum will be used for the expansion of the Kindcentrum.
