Theo van Gelder receives royal honor

Theo van Gelder from Beneden-Leeuwen received a royal honor on Saturday, March 22. Deputy Mayor Rob Reuvers surprised him that evening during the Tonproaters evening. He was appointed a member of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
For 27 years, Theo van Gelder has devoted himself heart and soul to preserving and promoting the carnival tradition in our community. His commitment is impressive. He holds the honorable position of senator in the corps of senators. This is an honorary title that is only awarded to the most deserving and dedicated members. He sits on the statutory board, is editor of the annual carnival newspaper, and is the initiator of the Braoiersloop.
He has also been a volunteer at the Plaet Gespeuld theater association for many years. He has worked on numerous productions. In addition, he has been a volunteer at Stichting Dag van Leeuwen since its foundation in 1997.
Rob Reuvers: "Your selfless dedication to the village and the community is greatly appreciated. A true ambassador of carnival culture and an inspiring example to many."
