Theo van Gelder Receives a Royal Honor

Theo van Gelder of Beneden-Leeuwen a royal honor on Saturday, March 22. Deputy Mayor Rob Reuvers surprised him that evening during the Tonproaters event. He has been appointed a member of the Order of Orange-Nassau.

For 27 years, Theo van Gelder has devoted himself heart and soul to preserving and promoting the carnival tradition in our community. His dedication is impressive. He holds the honorary position of senator in the Senate. An honorary title granted only to the most deserving and dedicated members. He serves on the statutory board, is editor of the annual carnival newspaper, and is the initiator of the Braoiersloop.

He has also been a volunteer with the Plaet Gespeuld theater group for many years. He has worked on numerous productions. In addition, he has been a volunteer with the Dag van Leeuwen Foundation since its founding in 1997.
