Hang a banner
What is it?
If you want to hang a banner on a public road, you need permission from the municipality. For example, if you want to announce an event or convey a specific message.
How does it work?
If you want to hang a banner, ask yourself the following:
- Is normal use of the road possible?
- Is the safety of pedestrians and other traffic at risk?
- Will this cause any inconvenience to nearby residents?
- Could the message be offensive to others?
- Is it spoiling the streetscape?
Please note! The municipality may refuse to allow commercial advertising on banners.
What should I do?
You must ask the municipality for permission to hang your banner. Include the following information in your application:
- Why you want to hang the banner
- where you would like to hang your banner
- When and for how long you will display the banner
- how big the banner is
- a drawing or a photo of the banner
How long does it take?
You will be notified within 8 weeks whether your request has been approved.
Additional information
The municipality may require that your banner be wind- and/or air-permeable. Please also note the following:
- Make sure to secure the banner properly.
- Be careful not to damage trees, walls, or lampposts.
- Make sure the banner is weather-resistant.
