Let's join in! returns to West Maas en Waal

This is an old post.

Starting in October, 'Join us at the table!' will restart in West Maas en Waal. This year, 7 Multi-Functional Centers and village halls are participating in 'Join us at the table!' The gatherings are not just about food; they are also intended to bring people together. Especially during the darker months, when social interaction is less common, connection is important.

Starting in October, 'Join us at the table!' will restart in West Maas en Waal. After three successful editions, this initiative is offering places for residents to meet and enjoy a meal together for the fourth time. Especially during the darker months, when social interaction is less common, connection is important.

Together at the table, stronger together

The participating Multifunctional Facilities (MFAs) and community centers provide the meals, either independently or in collaboration with local partners. But these gatherings aren’t just about food; they’re also meant to bring people together.

Alderman Reuvers emphasizes the importance of these gatherings: “Let’s sit down together! is about meeting each other, talking, and perhaps helping one another. I hope people will come together, bring a neighbor, or invite someone who is often alone. Many people might feel nervous about coming alone. That’s why it’s a good idea to bring someone along. Great conversations often happen around the table. I’ve experienced this myself during previous events. I hope people get to know each other and stay in touch even after the gathering—whether it’s a chat on the street, a cup of coffee, or meeting up again. I’m very grateful to everyone who makes these gatherings possible. This is how we build a community together where everyone feels seen and welcome.”

You can join us at seven community centers and village halls

This year, 7 Multi-Functional Centers and village halls are participating in 'Join us at the table!' The municipality of West Maas en Waal is pleased about this, as they see these locations as important places for community gatherings. The participants are: Community Center De Hucht, Community Center de Schuur (in collaboration with village platform Appeltern), Community Center De Uithof, Multi-Functional Center De Rosmolen, Multi-Functional Center D’n Hoender, Multi-Functional Center ‘t Hanzehuys, and VTC Wamel.

Practical Information

The gatherings will take place between October 6 and April 5, 2026. To keep meal prices low, the municipality is subsidizing the costs of Schuif samen aan! As a result, the price per meal is €5 per adult. For children 12 and under, the price is €4. There is a limited number of spots available each evening.
