Join us! Returns to West Maas en Waal

This is an old message.

Starting in October, Schuif samen aan! (Slide together!) will be relaunched in West Maas en Waal. This year, seven multifunctional centers and village halls will be participating in Schuif samen aan! The meetings are not just about food. They are also intended to bring people together. Connection is especially important during the dark months, when contact is less natural.

Starting in October, Schuif samen aan! (Slide together!) will be relaunched in West Maas en Waal. After three successful editions, this initiative will offer places where residents can meet each other for the fourth time. And enjoy a meal together. Especially in the dark months, when contact is less obvious, connection is important.

Together at the table and stronger together

The participating Multifunctional Accommodations (MFAs) and village halls provide the meals, either independently or in collaboration with local partners. But these gatherings are not just about food. They are also intended to bring people together.

Alderman Rob Reuvers emphasizes the importance of these gatherings: "Schuif samen aan! is about meeting each other, talking, and perhaps also helping each other. I hope that people will come together, bring a neighbor, or invite someone who is often alone. Many people may find it daunting to come alone. That's why it's good to ask someone to come with you. Great conversations often arise at the table. I experienced this myself during previous editions. I hope that people get to know each other and stay in touch after the meeting. A chat on the street, a cup of coffee, or meeting up again. I am very grateful to everyone who makes these meetings possible. In this way, we are building a community together in which everyone feels seen and welcome."

You can join in at seven MFAs and village halls.

This year, seven multifunctional centers and village halls are participating in Schuif samen aan! The municipality of West Maas en Waal is delighted with this. They see these locations as important meeting places. The participants are: De Hucht Village Hall, De Schuur Village Hall (in collaboration with the Appeltern village platform), De Uithof Village Hall, De Rosmolen MFA, D'n Hoender MFA, 't Hanzehuys MFA, and VTC Wamel.

Practical information

The meetings will take place between October 6 and April 5, 2026. To keep the price of meals low, the municipality contributes to the costs for Schuif samen aan! The price for a meal is therefore €5 per adult. For children up to 12 years old, the price is €4. There is a maximum number of places per evening.
