Stromenland Partnership for Special Education
What is it?
Since August 1, 2014, all schools are obliged to offer every child a suitable educational placement. Schools and school boards collaborate to organize this effectively. They do this in regions within so-called collaborative partnerships. The Stromenland Partnership is a large region. All school boards and all primary schools and special (primary) education schools in the municipalities of Beuningen, Boxmeer, Cuijk, Druten, Grave, Groesbeek, Heumen, Mill en Sint Hubert, Millingen aan de Rijn, Nijmegen, Sint Anthonis, Ubbergen, West Maas en Waal, and Wijchen belong to the Stromenland Partnership.
The Stromenland Partnership strives to provide every student with an appropriate education. Whenever possible, this takes place at school, in the classroom. If that is not possible, the school works with the parents to find a suitable educational setting in the neighborhood within the partnership. The guiding principle is: “Regular whenever possible, special when necessary.”
How does it work?
Network organization
The Stromenland Partnership is a foundation. It brings together 24 school boards representing 167 schools, including elementary schools, special elementary schools, and special education schools. As a network organization, it ensures appropriate educational programs for all students in the region.
Support platforms and administrative office
Stromenland’s operational area is extensive, which is why it has been divided into four so-called support platforms (regions). The administrative office is responsible for the central coordination of all activities. The administrative office also supports the regions. Each support platform operates in a specific region. The regional coordinators are responsible for implementing appropriate education.
