Stromenland partnership for appropriate education

What is it?

Since August 1, 2014, all schools have been required to offer every child a good place to learn. Schools and school boards work together to organize this effectively. They do so in regions in so-called partnerships. The Stromenland Partnership is a large region. All school boards and all primary schools and schools in special (primary) education in the municipalities of Beuningen, Boxmeer, Cuijk, Druten, Grave, Groesbeek, Heumen, Mill and Sint Hubert, Millingen aan de Rijn, Nijmegen, Sint Anthonis, Ubbergen, West Maas en Waal, and Wijchen belong to the Stromenland Partnership.

The Stromenland partnership strives to provide every student with appropriate education. If possible, this is done at school, in the classroom. If that is not possible, the school works with the parents to find a suitable educational setting in the neighborhood within the partnership. The guiding principle is: "Ordinary if possible, special if necessary."

How does it work?

Network organization

The Stromenland partnership is a foundation. It brings together 24 boards representing 167 primary schools, special primary schools, and special education schools. As a network organization, it ensures appropriate education for all students in the region.

Support platforms and administrative office

Stromenland covers a large area, which is why it has been divided into four support platforms (regions). The administrative office is responsible for the central coordination of all activities. The administrative office also supports the regions. Each support platform operates in a specific region. The contact persons in the region are responsible for the implementation of appropriate education.

More information can be found on the Stromenland website.
