Summary of responses from Altforst residents' evening, October 2021
Approximately 100 residents attended the residents' evening on housing construction in Altforst on October 19, 2021. A very good turnout! After the evening, the residents filled out a digital response form on this topic. We are pleased with the many responses. Residents are pleased with new homes
The responses show that a large majority of Altforst residents think it is a good idea to build new homes. New homes can counteract aging and improve quality of life. They also give young people the opportunity to continue living in their own village. That opportunity is currently almost non-existent. New construction also helps to maintain existing facilities and perhaps even expand them in the future. There is a preference for affordable starter homes (for local young people) and sufficient senior housing. Several comments indicate that residents who said they do not think it is a good idea to build new homes in Altforst are not completely opposed to new construction. They are simply expressing their concern about large-scale new construction, which could cause the village to lose its characteristic appearance.
Opinions on housing development sites are divided
The village is divided on the suitability of the proposed housing location. A majority considers the location in the master plan to be suitable. In this way, the new neighborhood will be a nice addition to the village. The streets connect well with the existing roads and the additional traffic will not have to pass through the existing neighborhoods. It is a nice addition to the existing buildings, without affecting the character of the village. However, many residents have indicated that they would (also) like to see alternative housing locations. A request has been made to investigate several options, taking into account developments around the school and the village hall. If necessary, part of the presented vision could already be implemented to meet current needs.
Housing is also necessary for quality of life.
The input collected shows that a large majority is in favor of 100 new homes over the next 20 years. This means an average addition of five homes per year, which is good growth for the village. This growth contributes to the quality of life and is necessary to keep the school and other facilities alive. Expansion is necessary, but it must be proportionate to the village's needs. Options such as building in the form of a cooperative housing project (CPO) are viewed positively.
We are going to draw up an integrated vision
There are currently many developments in Altforst. Residents of the village also mentioned this during the residents' evening. Village hall De Uithof would like to renovate (or rebuild). New construction is necessary for the primary school to continue to exist. There are developments surrounding the AAC soccer club and various initiatives for housing construction.
All these developments cannot be viewed separately from one another. That is why we have decided to draw up an integrated vision for Altforst. This vision takes all developments into account, including (potential) future housing initiatives. This means that no decision has been made on this matter at this time.
The ongoing developments on Kerkstraat-Kerkdwarsstraat and Woerdsestraat will not be delayed by the drafting of the integrated vision. The preparation and realization of these projects will continue, so that new homes will be built in Altforst in the near future.
