Room for the River 2.0

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management has launched the "Room for the River 2.0" program. Through this program, the ministry is preparing the river basin for the future.

A river region that is ready for the future

Climate change is affecting our rivers. We are experiencing more frequent flooding, as well as droughts and low water levels. That is why “Room for the River 2.0” is working to create a safe and future-proof river basin management plan. This ensures there is room for water, nature, shipping, and economic development.

Research shows that no additional space is needed for this in the “ West Maas en Waal ” project. However, the existing land reservation near Moordhuizen will remain in place. This reservation stems from the earlier “Room for the River” program.
