On June 18, a new Youth Meeting Point (JOP) was installed in West Maas en Waal. The JOP is located on the grass field near De Peel in Beneden-Leeuwen and is intended for young people to gather safely and easily.
Pilot phase begins
The JOP is a one-year pilot program. During the pilot period, we will assess its impact. The municipality will stay in touch with local residents and young people. There will be evaluations with nearby residents and community organizations. They can also call the municipality if they have any questions or comments. The youth worker will be on site frequently to maintain dialogue with young people.
Alderman Reuvers: “It’s important for young people to have a place where they feel welcome and heard. By involving young people in the design and choice of location, we hope this will become a place they feel a sense of ownership over. This will have a positive impact on how young people interact with the space. We thank everyone for their input during the process and look forward to a fruitful collaboration during the pilot period.”
