On June 18, a new Youth Meeting Place (JOP) was installed in West Maas en Waal. The JOP is located on the lawn near De Peel in Beneden-Leeuwen. It is intended to provide a safe and convenient place for young people to get together.

Pilot period commences

The JOP is a one-year pilot project. During the pilot period, its impact will be assessed. The municipality will maintain contact with local residents and young people. Evaluations will be conducted with local residents and associations. They can also call the municipality if they have any questions or comments. The youth worker will often be present at the location to maintain dialogue with young people.

Alderman Rob Reuvers: "It is important that young people have a place where they feel welcome and heard. By involving young people in the design and choice of location, we hope that this will become a place they feel ownership of. This has a positive effect on how young people interact with the place. We would like to thank everyone for their input during the process and look forward to a good collaboration during the pilot period."
