Request a wheelchair
What is it?
The municipality can help you if you are no longer able to get around on your own—for example, due to illness, a disability, or old age. The municipality will work with you to find a solution. In certain cases, you may be eligible for a wheelchair or modifications to your wheelchair.
How does it work?
During a home visit, a VraagWijzer consultant VraagWijzer discuss with you the difficulties you are experiencing with getting around. Sometimes it is immediately clear that a wheelchair is necessary. Sometimes it is not entirely clear, and it is necessary to seek independent medical advice. It may also be determined that you can first use a temporary wheelchair from a lending center. We refer to this as a provisional provision. In that case, the consultant will provide you with further information on how to arrange this yourself.
The wheelchair provision can be provided as in-kind care. This means that a provider contracted by the municipality supplies the equipment. This may be a manual or electric wheelchair for occasional or permanent use, or modifications to an existing wheelchair.
You can also choose to arrange the services yourself. In that case, you will receive a lump sum (known as a personal budget).
You do not have to pay a copayment for a wheelchair.
