Give it a try and discover your talent with Try Out!

There is now something special for young people in the municipalities of Druten and West Maas en Waal. Try Out offers a varied range of sports and cultural activities specifically for young people between 12 and 18 years old. They can freely try out new sports or creative hobbies, and perhaps discover hidden talents in the process. The digital information booklet provides a convenient overview of all the offerings, most of which are free.
The two neighboring municipalities have been working together for some time to introduce residents to new sports and cultural activities. For example, there is already Sjors Sportief for young children and Max Vitaal for seniors. The Try Out program has now been added to this lineup.
"With Try Out, we are giving young people in the municipalities of Druten and West Maas en Waal a wonderful opportunity to discover new activities in an accessible and non-committal way," says Alderman Rob Reuvers. "This allows them to discover what suits them at their own pace, without immediately having to become a member of an association. It's fantastic that we, as neighboring municipalities, are collaborating to create so many opportunities. This initiative not only helps discover hidden talents but also stimulates personal growth and the formation of new friendships. I hope that as many young people as possible seize this opportunity and, above all, enjoy their journey of discovery!"
The information booklet can be found at meedoeninmaasenwaal.nl. On this site, young people can sign up right away for one or more activities they’d like to try. Providers of sports and cultural activities can also register here.
Alderman de Wildt, Municipality of Druten: “Of course, we know that young people love spending time on their phones, tablets, or computers. With the many fun activities Try Out offers, we challenge young people to reduce their screen time. Instead, they can discover what else they enjoy. And they make new connections with other young people who share their interests. How wonderful it would be if they encouraged each other to discover even more activities together. That’s why it’s important to have as many providers of different activities as possible. So that young people can try out lots of things!”
