Polder beachcombers

Logo Polderjutters

In 2023, we started polder beachcombing. Polder beachcombers clean up litter twice a year, usually in the inland areas of our municipality. Associations can sign up for this in the spring. We recruit associations via social media and through reports in the Maas&Waler newspaper.

Polder beachcombers back to work

On Saturday, April 12, and Saturday, October 4, 13 associations will once again be beachcombing in our municipality. They will receive a minimum payment of €250 for their cleanup efforts. The amount depends, among other things, on the size of the area to be cleaned.

Registration is no longer possible.

Associations that go polder scavenging

This year, 23 associations registered to participate in beachcombing. We selected 13 associations based on the selection criteria. The selected associations were notified by email.

What are the conditions for participation?

  • The association is based in the municipality of West Maas en Waal.
  • A minimum of 4 people (adults) are required for beachcombing.
  • The association is available on Saturday, April 12, and Saturday, October 4.
  • Children under the age of 13 are not permitted.
  • Children between the ages of 13 and 15 may only participate when accompanied by an adult.
  • Each association has one responsible person/contact person.

By "association," we also mean social organizations.

Selection when there are more registrations than areas

The number of associations we need depends on the number of areas to be cleaned.

When making our selection, we take the following into account:

  • Associations that have not previously participated in beachcombing will be given priority.
  • After that, associations that have not participated for the longest time will be given an opportunity.
  • Then we draw lots if necessary.

Associations will be notified by email whether they are allowed to go beachcombing.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

You can do this by sending an email to milieu@westmaasenwaal.nl or calling 14 0487.

IVN is asking volunteers to clean up the floodplains. Anyone who would like to do this (or continue to do so) can register with IVN at .
