Pinksterbloemstraat Parking Lot

We are currently expanding the IKC Beneden-Leeuwen. The public space is mostly complete. We still plan to build a park between the IKC and Van Heemstraweg. This can only happen once construction of the IKC is finished. For now, we have plans for the parking lot. We would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Make way for after-school care

The after-school care center (BSO) asked us to create an entrance from the parking lot on Pinksterbloemstraat. That way, parents with small children won’t have to walk as far.

We are now considering creating a passageway in the fence. The parking lot will then be available for you and for parents dropping off or picking up their children from after-school care.

New Access and Parking Policies for After-School Care

We expect that parents of elementary school students will also use this passageway. We would prefer that they did not. To prevent this, we are therefore installing a fence between the after-school care center and the schoolyard. We will create a gate in it for maintenance purposes and as an access point for emergency services (fire department, ambulance) in the event of an emergency. This gate will therefore remain closed. On the passageway/fencing diagram, you can see both fences marked in red.

A sign indicates that parking at the Rosmolen is reserved for parents of elementary school students. Parking on Pinksterbloemstraat is reserved for parents of after-school care students.

We asked for your opinion on the passageway

We received many responses via the feedback form and by email. These comments focused on creating the access point and installing fencing and a gate. The vast majority of the responses were clear: you do not want an additional access point.

We will accommodate your request.

We have compiled a summary of all the responses we received.
All residents will receive a letter regarding this in the week of May 18.

Summary of all feedback forms

We received 17 responses via the comment form on the website.
When asked, “I want a fence to be installed,” they all answered “no.”

Below is a summary of the comments made.

Not enough parking spaces

Many residents say there are already few parking spaces. If a throughway is built, more cars will come, and parking will become even more difficult. Cars will then be parked along the road more often, which can be dangerous.

More traffic and less safety for children

The street is quiet now, and children often play outside. Residents are worried that more cars will start driving through the street. That makes it less safe, especially when parents are dropping off and picking up their children.

Illegal parking creates dangerous situations

Currently, parents sometimes park in places where it is inconvenient or unsafe. This narrows the street and can make it difficult for residents to drive their cars out. With increased traffic, this will happen more often.

The location of the passageway isn't convenient

Several residents are opposed to the proposed location for the passageway. They are concerned that it will lead to increased traffic right next to their homes and driveways. A passageway near the green belts or the parking lot is often cited as a better location.

There's no need to go through: there are better solutions

Many residents feel that the access road is unnecessary. They say that parents can easily park at the Rosmolen or other parking lots and then walk a short distance. That’s quieter and safer for the street.
