Request an overview of the personal data provided
What is it?
Government agencies and other organizations may request your personal information from the municipality. For example, for:
- pensions
- benefits
- housing allowance
- taxes
- lawsuits
If you would like to know what information the municipality has on file about you, you can request a summary of this information. You can do this at the municipality where you live.
How does it work?
To provide you with a complete overview, the municipality does not rely solely on its own systems. It also informs you which national government agencies have accessed your data.
What should I do?
You can request the statement from the municipality where you live.
What do I need?
If you are submitting the application in writing: a copy of your valid ID.
How long does it take?
You will receive the summary within four weeks.
Additional information
The overview covers a maximum of twenty years. This is the length of time the government is required to retain so-called “records” under the Basic Registration of Persons Act. However, this law did not take effect until January 6, 2014. Prior to that date, the legal retention period was one year. Therefore, it is not always possible to retrieve all information from the past twenty years for you.
