Requesting personal data
What is it?
The municipality maintains personal data on all residents in the Basic Register of Persons (BRP). The municipality needs this information if, for example, you are getting married or your passport is expiring. If necessary, the municipality may also share your information with other government agencies, such as the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Justice, or the police. Or with organizations such as pension funds and housing authorities.

- If you are looking for another BRP personal data from the BRP , please inform the municipality of the purpose for which you need the data.
- The person you are looking for must give their consent.
- The municipality decides whether you will receive the requested information:
- You will only receive information if you have a personal, non-commercial reason.
- You can only obtain standard information, such as name, date of birth, address, city of residence, or date of death.
- You will not receive any information if the person has requested that their personal data be kept confidential.
- If the municipality denies your request for information, you may file an appeal within 6 weeks.
