Call to young people to contribute ideas about youth meeting places (JOPs) in West Maas en Waal

This is an old post.

At the end of January, the College of Mayor and Aldermen decided that there will be two places in the municipality of West Maas en Waal where young people can meet. One in Beneden-Leeuwen and one in Dreumel. In March, the appointed project agency and the municipality will gladly continue discussions with young people about this.

Talking with young people

To determine the appropriate format and location for the youth meeting places (JOPs), the municipality would like to engage in dialogue with young people. It is important that the space meets the needs of the young people, so that they develop a shared sense of responsibility for the space. The project office is organizing the meeting. They are doing this in collaboration with the municipality and the youth worker from the social services organization Sociom.

What happens next?

After the meeting, the project office will continue its work. They will use the guiding principles to conduct a strengths-and-weaknesses analysis of the potential locations. They will then develop a preliminary design for both villages.
A second meeting for young people will then be organized around May. There, they will be shown the preliminary design. A meeting will also be organized for local residents to view the preliminary design.
The information from both meetings will be collected. The project office will incorporate this information into the final design for both villages. The final design for both locations will then be shared with both the young people and the local residents.
