Discover local politics with the free course Politiek Actief!

This is an old message.

The municipality of West Maas en Waal is organizing a unique opportunity for residents aged 17 and older to learn more about how municipal politics works. The free course Politiek Actief (Politically Active) starts on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, and offers participants insight into decision-making within the municipality, with practical skills to become active themselves.

What does the course involve?

The Politically Active course has been specially developed for residents who are curious about how decisions are made in the municipal council. During five interactive sessions, participants learn about the tasks of the municipality, the role of the municipal council, and ways to exert influence themselves. There is also debate training and a visit to a council meeting to see the knowledge gained in practice.

Mayor Vincent van Neerbos: "It is important that residents not only understand how municipal politics works, but also how they themselves can exert influence. This course offers an accessible way to get involved and possibly even take the first step toward an active political role."
