Property tax (OZB)
What is it?
You pay property tax (OZB) if you own real estate, such as a home or commercial property.
You do not have to pay property tax if you rent a home. However, you do have to pay property tax if you rent commercial premises.
How does it work?
The municipality bases its calculations on the situation on January 1 of the year for which you are paying tax. This means that if you sell your home on January 2, you will still have to pay tax for the entire year. When the sale is completed, the notary will settle this with the buyer.
The BSR ( ) is responsible for determining, levying, and collecting property tax for our municipality.
What should I do?
You pay the property tax.
Lodge an objection
If you disagree with the assessment, you can lodge an objection. Include the assessment number in your objection and explain why you disagree.
Send your objection to the municipality within 6 weeks of the date on the tax assessment notice.
The BSR ( ) is responsible for determining, levying, and collecting property tax for our municipality. You must therefore submit your objection to them.
What does it cost?
Additional information
You must also pay property tax for real estate that you are (still) having built. You may also have to pay property tax for houseboats and mobile homes. You do not have to pay property tax for certain types of real estate, such as churches.
Amount of property tax payable
Among other things, BSR is responsible for implementing the WOZ Act (Valuation of Immovable Property Act). This results in, among other things, the WOZ value. The municipality uses this value to determine how much property tax you have to pay.
The BSR ( ) is responsible for determining, levying, and collecting property tax on our behalf. You must also contact the BSR to apply for remission.
When will you receive your tax assessment?
In 95% of cases, property tax assessments are sent out in February each year. In some cases, the property tax assessment is sent out later; this may be due to an ongoing appeal procedure, a renovation that has not yet been assessed, or something else. For more information, please contact the BSR at.
