There are also seven toddler care facilities and seven daycare institutions, including after-school care. The Juniorcollege West Maas en Waal is located in Beneden-Leeuwen, which is a branch of the Pax Christi College school community from Druten.

Developments

In recent years, there have been many developments in the field of education. Local education policy is now a shared responsibility of the statutory partners. These partners are:

  • all school districts within the municipality (elementary and secondary education)
  • the boards of the preschool
  • representatives of childcare centers
  • the municipality of West Maas en Waal (Social Development team)

These partners work together to establish agreements on local education policy. This includes the development of Community Schools and the former policy on educational disadvantage. These agreements are set out in a Local Education Agenda (LEA). This LEA outlines the goals to be pursued, the steps the parties must take to achieve these goals, who is responsible for which tasks, and who bears which costs.
