Entering a nature reserve
What is it?
You are not allowed to enter a nature reserve with a car, motorcycle, moped, bicycle, or horse without permission. You will need an exemption from the municipality.
You do not need to apply for an exemption if you:
- want to drive on public roads in the nature reserve
- lives in the area
- manages and maintains the area
How does it work?
The municipality decides whether you will be granted an exemption. The municipality wants to prevent damage to the environment or nature. It also wants to prevent nuisance to other visitors, such as hikers.
What should I do?
You can apply for the exemption at the municipality. Please provide the following information:
- why you want to enter the nature reserve with your vehicle or horse
- which nature reserve you want to visit
- the date and time you wish to enter the area
- the period during which you wish to use the exemption
- which vehicle you intend to use to enter the nature reserve (including license plate number)

- your valid proof of identity
How long will it take?
You will receive notification within 8 weeks as to whether you will be granted the exemption.
Lodge an objection
Do you disagree with the municipality's decision? If so, you can lodge an objection within six weeks.
