Lively Lions
We want to make the center of Beneden-Leeuwen more attractive and livable in the coming years. We are doing this through the “Levendig Leeuwen” project. The “Levendig Leeuwen” project involves the redevelopment of Zandstraat (from the intersection with Zijveld to the intersection with Dijkstraat), Molenlaan, Sportlaan, and Wielstraat.
Current Status
On October 10, 2024, the “ municipal council ” approved the urban design plan. The urban design plan was developed based on the guidelines and conditions provided by the “ municipal council.” These guidelines were elaborated into guiding principles.
The Zandstraat and the Dorpsplein were then developed into a technical drawing. Here you can see what the layout will look like.

Molenlaan will be redesigned in 2025. Margrietstraat, Wielstraat, and part of Sportlaan will be redesigned in 2026.
Open House on October 5
During the open house, you had the opportunity to ask questions about the technical drawing and let us know if we had overlooked anything. Examples include a driveway, a post, or the access path to your home or lot. Afterward, you had until October 11 to fill out a feedback form.

The plan's overall framework has been finalized
The road layout and the number of parking spaces and green areas will not change. This also applies to the safe crosswalks and accessibility for people with disabilities. We would, however, like to hear if we’ve overlooked anything during the planning process. You can do this by filling out the feedback form on this page. You have until Sunday, October 11, to submit your feedback.
We are drafting a response memorandum
We will compile all comments submitted by local residents into a response report. In this report, you will also find our responses to the comments. The response report will be available on this page starting November 16. The final design will also be ready by then. The adjustments will have been made based on the response report.
By that time, we also expect to be able to provide an estimate of when we will begin the work. Of course, local residents will receive a letter regarding this. In addition, we will post updates about the project on our social media channels and on our municipal news page in the Maas&Waler.
Previous agreements regarding the right of superficies remain in effect
During the redevelopment in 1999, we entered into agreements with some property owners regarding building rights. Do you have such an agreement? If so, the terms set forth in it remain in effect. We have incorporated these terms into the design.
