Quality boost for Beneden-Leeuwen: from business location to residential area
In Beneden-Leeuwen, the former knitting factory at Bikkelen 36-38D is being repurposed to create five apartments and four back-to-back houses. The plan improves the appearance of the area and responds to the demand for affordable rental housing.

With the Bikkelen aan Bikkelen 36-38D plan in Beneden-Leeuwen, a former knitting factory is being given a new purpose. The design consists of five apartments and four back-to-back houses in the mid-range rental segment. This will improve the appearance of the area and respond to the demand for affordable rental homes. This development will significantly improve quality and contribute to a pleasant living environment. It is in line with the municipality's ambitions to use space in a smart and sustainable way.
Alderman Marieke van den Boom: "The Bikkelen plan gives the outdated location a new future. Homes will be added in the mid-range rental segment, for which there is high demand. This will also improve the quality of the environment. It is a great example of making smart use of existing space."
The draft plan is available for inspection.
The plan is public and anyone can view the documents. The city council is expected to make a decision on the adoption of the plan in the second quarter of 2026.
