Royal Designation
What is it?
The designation "Royal" is an honor bestowed upon a company, association, foundation, or institution. You may apply for this designation through the mayor. Once granted, you may add the title "Royal" to your organization's name. You may also use an image of the Royal Crown in your logo.
How does it work?
You can receive the designation if your company:
- is very important in your field
- has been in existence for at least 100 years
- has at least 100 employees
- is demonstrably stable and has a good financial reputation
- is not part of a larger group that is already Royal
- positions itself in the market as a Dutch company
Clubs
You can obtain the designation for your organization if your organization:
- is very important in your field
- has been in existence for at least 100 years
- does not disseminate political or other sensitive views
- is not part of a larger entity that is already Royal
If your organization is acquired or undergoes major structural changes, you will unfortunately no longer be permitted to use the designation “Royal.”
What should I do?
- Submit an application to the mayor. Do this in the municipality where your organization is located.
- Please explain clearly why your organization deserves this designation.
- Please attach any documents that support your explanation.
How long does it take?
- Processing your application will take at least a year.
- You will be notified automatically if your organization is awarded the designation.
- If your organization is awarded the designation, you will receive it along with the accompanying certificate during a special celebratory event.
