Children's City Council
The seventh edition of the Children's Municipal Council in West Maas en Waal was scheduled for Thursday, November 14, with the theme "Growing up happily in West Maas en Waal!" Unfortunately, it will not take place this year.
Three schools had registered to participate, but due to circumstances, two of these schools had to cancel their participation. As a result, it is not feasible to hold the Children's City Council this year.
During the week of September 2-6, students in grades 7 and 8 from primary schools in our municipality participated in the Democracity game. This interactive role-playing game took place in the council chamber of the town hall. During the game, the students learned about the basic principles of local government by building a city together and making decisions.
Mayor Vincent van Neerbos: "It is unfortunate that we are unable to hold the Children's Council this year. However, I am proud of the pupils' involvement in the Democracity game. Initiatives such as this remain important in showing our young people how they can help shape the future of our municipality."
Next year, we hope to organize another edition of the Children's City Council. We look forward to welcoming the students of our municipality once again.
