Young and old together under one roof in Beneden-Leeuwen

The corner of Waterstraat and Van Heemstraweg in Beneden-Leeuwen is finally being developed. The municipality of West Maas en Waal recently signed an agreement with landowner and initiator Elbers Landerijen B.V. At this location, Het Ouden Huis is building care cluster homes for seniors and studios for first-time buyers. The homes are expected to be available after the summer of 2025.

Housing construction program

An apartment building with a maximum of 38 care cluster homes will be constructed. In addition, there will be space for a maximum of 10 studios. The zoning plan also allows for associated facilities and a building for social purposes. The residential building with care cluster homes is primarily intended for local residents. The studios are intended for young people. A large proportion of the homes will be rented out at an affordable rent. Rent allowance is possible.

The Old House

Het Ouden Huis is an attractive home for seniors; alone or together, with or without assistance or care needs, and with incomes ranging from state pensions to middle incomes. People have their own rented accommodation and can live their own lives. If they need help or company, both are close at hand. Het Ouden Huis is a pleasant and safe place to live, offering attention and care. There is also room for young people at Het Ouden Huis. They bring a different atmosphere, interact with the residents, and lend a helping hand.

Zoning plan

A zoning plan specifies how the land in an area and the buildings on it may be used. For example, an area may be 'zoned' for businesses or only for residential use.
